MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WFSB) -

Officials said Friday water will be turned off in certain areas of Middletown.

Water will be temporarily shut off in the area of Stoney Crest, Rose Circle, Bartlett Hollow and Newfield Street.

The outage will begin at 10 p.m. Friday. Service will be restored around 7 a.m. Saturday.

Water must be turned off so crews can make repairs to a water main at the intersection of Bartlett Hollow and Newfield Street.

Middletown officials urged residents who ma be affected to store drinking water prior to the outage.

They are also advised to put water in their bathtubs for the purpose of flushing toilets.

Pouring small buckets of water into the toilet will cause its contents to flush out.

Officials said residents may experience discolored water after service is restored.

The discolored water should not be used until it has cleared.

Residents are advised to run cold water from the faucet until the colored water clears.

They said there is expected to be only minor disruption for residents.
