Barrett Jackson auction continues for second day

Posted: Updated:

Car enthusiasts are flocking to Mohegan Sun for the first ever Barrett Jackson Northeast Auto Auction.

On Thursday, the venue sold out, and it is a hot ticket for the region’s economy too.

There are hundreds of cars, and tens of thousands of car lovers crawling all over the venue.

"It puts us on the map it really does. This is something that's going to grow over the years. This is just the beginning,” said Wayne Carini, host of Chasing Classic Cars.

Barrett-Jackson has a huge economic impact throughout southeast Connecticut. Hotels up to a half hour away are booked.

"Usually we see the capacity going towards the casino, it's wonderful to see something actually going the other way and the region is supporting that event,” said Steve Tagliatela, of Saybrook Point Inn.

Barrett Jackson has a five-year deal with Mohegan Sun.

The event will wrap up on Saturday.
