One of the men charged in a rash of drug overdoses in New Haven worked as a custodian at the Lincoln Bassett Elementary School in New Haven.
A school spokesperson said Steven Whaley has been placed on unpaid leave following the arrest. He was a night custodian.
Whaley is charged with drug possession and distribution, and is one of three people accused of selling the drugs that led to nearly 17 overdoses and three deaths.
In a statement, the school district said "At this time, there are no indications that students have had any exposure to this incident and we will continue to ensure all students within our school walls have a safe educational environment."
