Quinnipiac University said a student was killed in a car crash Sunday.
Officials said Jacqueline Gray, a sophomore, was one of six involved in Milford, MA.
QU spokesman John Morgan said Gray's death is a tragedy.
"It was with profound sadness that we informed our university community today about the loss of Jacqueline Gray, a member of the Class of 2019 who was a dean's list student majoring in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. There are no words to adequately express our sympathy to Jacqueline's family and friends," said Morgan.
Officials also said Gray was a hockey cheerleader for the school.
Counseling services will be available for students.
A vigil is expected to be held Tuesday night from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
