A water main break shut down a street in Hartford Wednesday morning.
A 6" main, which was installed in 1854, broke on Hudson Street around 7 a.m., according to a Metropolitan District Commission spokesperson.
MDC said 13 multi-family homes were affected by the main break.
The road closure is on Hudson Street between Park and Buckingham Streets. Drivers can take Wadsworth Street or John Street for detours.
MDC said repairs on the break are expected to be completed between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There is a water wagon on Hudson Street to help those affected by the main break. Customers can fill a container, up to a 5-gallon bucket, with water from the wagon. This water could be used for such activities as collecting water for flushing toilets, MDC said.
The wagon will remain on scene until repairs are completed by MDC.
