Wednesday marked 72 years since a fire ripped through a circus tent in Hartford.
On July 6, 1944, 168 people died in a big top fire at the Ringling Brothers circus.
Eyewitnesses said the Wallendas were going up for a high wire act after other performers had wrapped up an animal act. That's when everyone noticed the flames.
They were caught on camera from the outside by a man from Plainville.
Witnesses said the fire quickly consumed the tent and trapped hundreds of people inside.
