A school bus driver was arrested by Middletown police for engaging in sexual activities with a 14-year-old student.
Police said they began investigating Wendy Valero, a Dattco employee, on June 14.
They said Valero had been the student's bus driver for three years.
Over the past year, they became "friends" through social media. They eventually exchanged inappropriate photos, police said.
After the school year ended, Valero brought the victim to her home in Middletown.
Police said she exposed herself to him and engaged in sexual activity.
They said Valero has no association with the Middletown School System as of Wednesday.
In a statement, DATTCO Inc. said "The safety of our student passengers and the communities we serve is our number one priority. Upon being made aware of this investigation, DATTCO, Inc. immediately removed the driver from service, and has continued to cooperate with authorities. We learned today that the employee was arrested. Due to the ongoing investigation this is the only statement we are releasing at this time."
She turned herself in on Tuesday just before 10:30 a.m.
Valero was charged with risk of injury to a minor and second-degree sexual assault.
She was given a court date of July 19 and posted a $35,000 bond.
Valero was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Police sought to remind parents to keep an eye on their child's social medial activity.
