A house abandoned for years, with property that turned into an eyesore in a beautiful neighborhood, has finally gotten some attention.

After a story aired on Eyewitness News last week, the blight is now gone.

"It's a good thing for the neighborhood and it's a good thing for Southington,” said John Kunkel of Southington.

Neighbors were upset that the home at 181 Malcein Dr. in Southington was ruining the whole block, bringing property values down and making homes difficult to sell.

Not to mention, the overgrown grass, lack of gutters, and glass in the driveway were safety hazards.

Town officials said after seeing the story on Channel 3 last week, they mowed the lawn the next day. They’ll be billing Clear Spring Loan Services for the work done.

Clear Spring Loan Service is the company that has filed a registration for the property to be foreclosed.

People in the neighborhood are thankful the issue is resolved.

“Thanks to you guys we got it fixed,” Kunkel said.

Clear Spring Loan Services told Eyewitness News they were set to mow the property last Saturday, but the town beat them to it.

They did remove the pool and the hot tub from the backyard.
