Simsbury opens up cooling centers ahead of potential heat wave

SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Ahead of a potential heat wave this week, cooling centers were opening to help residents beat the heat.

Cooling centers were being made available to residents in Simsbury starting on Wednesday.

The cooling centers will be open Wednesday through Friday at the following locations: 

  • Simsbury Public Library, located at 725 Hopmeadow St., Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am – 8:30 pm and Friday from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm
  • Eno Memorial Hall, located at 754 Hopmeadow St., Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and Friday from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

The Simsbury Social Services Department is reminding residents to:

  • stay hydrated
  • avoid prolonged sun exposure,
  • check on elderly family members and neighbors
  • ever leave children or pets in an unattended vehicle
