NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A major lane shift along I-95 in New Haven is expected to tie up traffic this week.

The state’s Department of Transportation said drivers should expect delays on I-95 northbound between the off ramps to Long Wharf Drive, exit 46, and Frontage Road, Exit 51.

This is the start of the Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program.

Starting on Thursday, the I95 northbound traffic is shifted onto the new bridge over Water Street.

The I-95 off ramp will become a right hand exit.

On and off ramps will be closed and detours will be posted throughout the weekend.
