NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

The state Department of Transportation warned drivers this week to expect intermittent delays along Interstate 95 for the weekend.

The DOT said starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, drivers should expect a new alignment of I-95 northbound through New Haven.

It said the I-95 northbound exit 48 off-ramp to Interstate 91 northbound will become a right hand exit.

There will also be a 20 minute stoppage of traffic from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday along I-95 northbound between the off-ramps to Ella Grasso Boulevard at exit 44 and Long Wharf Drive at exit 46.

There will be a few ramp closures as well.

  • Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 northbound from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday.
  • I-95 Northbound off-ramp to Route 34 westbound (Exit 47) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday.
  • Long Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 northbound from 11 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.
  • I-95 northbound off-ramp to Route 34 Westbound (Exit 47) from11 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Route 34 off-ramps to I-91 northbound and I-95 northbound from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday.
  • I-95 Northbound off-ramp to Woodward Avenue (Exit 50) from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Lane closures will also occur through the I-95, I-91 and Route 34 interchange throughout the weekend between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Extensive lane closures will occur on I-95 northbound between the off-ramps to Long Wharf Drive (Exit 46) and Frontage Road (Exit 51).
