BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Two Branford police officers were hurt in a crash that involved a suspected DUI driver, according to police.

Police said the officers were driving through the intersection of North Main Street and Ceder Street Thursday night when they were struck by a 2016 Audi.

Officers Ryan Gotowala and Brett Johnson were injured. After being treated at the scene, they were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The driver of the Audi, identified by police as Jeffrey Murchison, 59, of Branford, refused treatment.

He was taken into custody and transported to the police department. Police said they charged him with operating while under the influence.

Murchison was released on a written promise to appear in New Haven Court on July 27.
