Police in Plainfield said they arrested a man for causing a disturbance in town.
Tracy Perry, 30, of Plainfield, was found to be highly intoxicated, according to police.
Officers said they were called to a home on Prospect Street just after 8 p.m. on Monday.
When they arrived, they said Perry tried to flee on foot. After a brief struggle, he was arrested.
While in custody, police said Perry tried to harm himself. They said they had to get him under control using pepper spray.
He was brought to the Plainfield Police Department and charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with police.
He was later released on bond.
However, as he entered the department's lobby, he spit at the dispatcher window and again fled on foot.
An officer found Perry walking on Norwich Road and was once again arrested.
At the department, he was additionally charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
He was given a court date of Aug. 1 in Danielson.
