A body was found in a New Britain park on Tuesday morning and police are calling the circumstances "suspicious."
Police confirmed to Eyewitness News that the unidentified man's body was found in Stanley Quarter Park on Blake Road around 8 a.m.
His body was found at the skate park, and police said the man appeared to have been shot.
Few details have been released so far, but police said the man was in his 40s, and his death appears to be suspicious.
"EMS pronounced the male deceased at the scene," said Cpt. Thomas Steck, New Britain police. "[The] gun shot wound appears to be the cause of it."
They did not call it a homicide.
The park is a busy place. Police said the skate park, baseball fields and walking path next to the pond are heavily used throughout the day.
"There's always kids. There's always a ball game. There's always people around. Nothing like a body. Very, very shocked about that," said Jay Whitsett, of New Britain.
Police said they've been on the scene for the past four hours. They have been looking through nearby woods on both sides of the skate park.
The cause of death has not been released.
Stanley Quarter Park is located near Central Connecticut State University. Police said the park is a safe place, and don't usually have any problems there.
