PD: 2 facing drug charges following investigation at Higganum home

HIGGANUM, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut State Police have arrested two people on narcotics-related charges following an investigation at a Higganum home on Monday.

Early Monday morning, police responded to the home on Ponsett Road, where detectives located unknown chemicals.

“The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene to assist with the safe removal of the chemicals. The DEA also responded to the scene. DEEP determined that the chemicals were non-hazardous,” a police press release said.

The Department of Children and Families responded as well for two children inside the home.

Police arrested 32-year-old Jesse Vernil, and 31-year-old Megan Vincelett. They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance.
