Patrons brought business in from the beach to Illiano’s Pizza in Middletown on Sunday evening. Families, exhausted from a long beach day, and with no desire to cook, stopped in for dinner just before 8p.m.
The boom in business from the beach goers is keeping manager, Ryan Lancia, busy.
Lancia has worked a full day -- from 10 in the morning to 10 at night.
"Hopefully we stay strong all the way until the end of the night," said Lancia.
Lancia said business at Illiano’s was up more than 20 percent than usual business on a Sunday. Lancia said he believes the hot weather had a positive effect on sales.
Southington resident, Tammy Williams and her two daughters stopped at Illiano’s for dinner on their way back from the beach in Westbrook.
"The girls and I went to the beach and on our way home, there was no way I was going to cook for them, so we stopped to get something to eat," said Williams.
With temperatures soaring into the upper 90s, pizza patrons are hoping for some cooler weather and cooler entrees as well.
"Lots of salads, cool stuff – sandwiches, but it always boggles my mind when people order soup on a day like today," said Lancia.
