Virginia man arrested for Meriden shooting

MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

 A 23-year-old Virginia man was arrested in connection with a shooting in Meriden in May.

A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the head/neck area on Willow Street around 12:45 p.m. Police said Bristol resident Deon Camp fired at a man; however, he missed and struck a bystander.

Police said Camp “has been on the run” from the Meriden Police Department and then fled Connecticut. He was arrested on July 20 in Richmond, Virginia.

Camp was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond. Camp will be arraigned at Bristol Superior Court on Friday.
