A swimmer was pulled from the waters at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport around Sunday night.
State Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to a report of an unresponsive swimmer at East Beach. Crews were called to the scene approximately 5 p.m. to a situation in which a Good Samaritan pulled a man from the water.
The man was identified as 31-year-old Bronx, New York resident, Shuja Nagi. He was later transported to by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital.
A search for a second victim by State EnCon Police, State Police Troop G, Westport Marine Dive Team, and USCG helicopter was halted and no evidence of a second victim was found.
