EAST WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) -

Two people were sent to a nearby hospital after a crash closed Route 5 in East Windsor for most of Tuesday.

Police said a tractor-trailer unit "rear-ended a pick-up truck" on Route 5 around 10:30 a.m., according to the department's preliminary investigation. The crash sent both drivers to the hospital with what police called "non-life threatening injuries."

The vehicles crashed into an utility pole and caused an outage in the area. Eversource crews were able to replace the pole and restore power to the area.

Crews spent most of Tuesday cleaning up vehicle fluids that spilled onto the roadway.

Route 5 was closed between Stoughton and Abbe roads until 4 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
