OXFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A fire has closed a road in Oxford Wednesday morning.

Officials said firefighters were called to 7 Hawley Rd. for the house fire.

As a result, crews had to close Hawley Road, which grants access to Route 67.

The Department of Transportation said Route 67 is also closed between Route 188 and Towner Road.

Mutual aid from Seymour and Middlebury responded to the scene with rescue and tanker trucks.

Firefighters said the home was badly damaged.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News that two people live there, but they didn't think anyone was home at the time of the fire.

There's no word on injuries or a cause.
