VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

A teen in Vernon was arrested on Tuesday for having drugs and weapons, according to police.

They said 18-year-old Zachary Oliver of Willimantic was found in a vehicle, which was parked in Henry Park after hours.

Police said the park closes at sunset and Oliver was parked there with a female passenger.

An officer spotted Oliver's vehicle while on a patrol of the area.

During the officer's contact with the two people, he said he began to suspect that they were involved in illegal drug activity.

Another officer and a K9 unit arrived on the scene.

The K9 located a quarter pound of marijuana, 70 illegal prescription pills, a digital scale and a fake handgun.

Oliver was charged with possession of more than 4 oz. of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, weapon in a motor vehicle and violation of a town ordinance.

He was released on a non-surety bond and scheduled to face a judge in Rockville on Aug. 16.

Police did not release information about Oliver's 18-year-old female passenger.
