There are some growing pains over a proposed plan to build a Henny Penny Convenience store and gas station in Somers.
Wednesday night, the town's zoning commission held a public hearing after receiving a petition opposing construction.
A Waterford-based company has been seeking to build the business on Main Street.
People opposed to the store and station said they're concerned about the proposed site's drainage and the possibility of a fuel spill.
"One of my concerns folks, in case of an environmental emergency at this new facility, is our fire department prepared to respond and take care of any and all potential environmental emergencies?" asked John Cutter of Somers.
Other opponents also cited noise pollution that could impact a nearby church.
