BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) -

A Southington man remains hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Bristol early Saturday morning.

Bristol police said the accident happened near 647 Willis Street just before 1 a.m.

Officers said the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved and it appears the operator, a 51-year-old man, lost control of the bike while negotiating a curve.  The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Police said there were no passengers on the motorcycle.

The operator was rushed to a nearby trauma center, police said, with serious life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.  Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 860-584-3032.
