Connecticut State Police trooper was taken to the hospital after their cruiser was struck on Route 8 in Waterbury on Monday evening.
Police said cruiser was rear-ended on the southbound side of Route 8 near exit 34. The trooper was "stopped in the gore conducting motor vehicle enforcement," police said.
The trooper reported minor injuries to police and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The crash closed the right shoulder of Route 8. The Department of Transportation said it could take two hours to clear the crash.
