SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A 35-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after police said he pointed a fake gun at drivers on Interstate 84 west near the Southington/Cheshire border.

Officer’s received reports around 7 a.m. of a man, who was later identified as Southington resident Jason Marek, was displaying a handgun to other motorists.

Marek was getting off exit 18 in Waterbury when he was pulled over by police.

Officers found a facsimile handgun in Marek’s vehicle and arrested him.

He was transported to the Southbury State Police barracks and released after posting a $1,000 bond.

Marek was charged with illegal use/possession of a facsimile handgun and breach of peace.

He is scheduled to appear in Meriden superior court on Aug. 22.
