Skunk in Groton City tests positive for rabies

A skunk in Groton City has tested positive for rabies. 

The animal was found in the area of Meech Avenue on Friday. The Lede Light Health District is warning people to refrain from feeding or approaching any wild or stray animals.

Rabies can deadly and "can infect all warm blooded animals, including people," according to Lede Light Health District. They said Rabies "is spread mostly by wild animals, but stray cats and dogs may also become infected and spread the virus."
