OLD LYME, CT (WFSB) -

Police are investigating after an infant was found unresponsive at a home in Old Lyme on Sunday morning.

A 911 call came in at around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday from a home on Portland Avenue, CT State Police said.

The 6-month-old child was found unresponsive, and police said while rescue measures were attempted, the child was pronounced dead at Middlesex Shoreline Clinic.

It is unclear how the child died at this time, and police said the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Neighbors in the area said they saw police pull up to the home on Sunday morning, and minutes later an ambulance arrived.

The CT State Police Major Crimes Unit was at the home for several hours, and the Central District Major Crime Squad has taken over the investigation.
