SOUTH MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

A man sentenced for shooting at a South Meriden mosque last fall is scheduled to report to prison on Monday.

Ted Hakey Jr. was sentenced to six months in prison with time served. He also received three years of suspended release.

Hakey admitted to being drunk and blinded by hate when he fired four shots into the Baitul Aman Mosque, to which he lived next door. He did it following the November terror attacks in Paris.

He pleaded guilty to damaging religious property back in February and was sentenced in June.

Since the incident, members of the mosque pleaded with the judge to lighten Hakey's sentence and preached forgiveness.

Hakey himself said he made friendships with members.

Though the sentence is lower than the recommended 14 months, Hakey called what happened "stupidity on my part." He said six months is still time that will be wasted.

Hakey said he was in the process of selling his home.
