Three suspects arrested in Willington highway robbery set to face a judge

ROCKVILLE, CT (WFSB) -

Three people accused of taking part in a highway robbery in Willington are scheduled to face a judge on Monday.

State police said 19-year-old Walter Kirksley and 27-year-old Benjamin Cooper, both of Alabama, pepper-sprayed and robbed a man at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

Karanda Clemons, 23, of Massachusetts, was also arrested. Troopers said she was their getaway driver.

The crime happened at an Interstate-84 rest stop.

The victim was not seriously hurt.

Massachusetts troopers tracked the suspects down a short time later and said they found a loaded gun in their SUV.

The suspects were being held on $250,000 bonds.

They are due in Rockville Superior Court.
