Woman killed in Southington after being hit by car

SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A woman in Southington has died after she was hit by a car on Monday morning.

Police said the crash happened on Savage Street just before 10 a.m. on Monday.

Amal Abouchakra, 50 of Southington, was walking on Savage Street near Rockwood Drive when she was hit by a Chevy Trailblazer that was traveling north on Savage Street.

The car was being driven by 37-year-old Jarred Korab.

Abouchakra was taken to Bradley Memorial Hospital where she died.

Savage Street was closed at the intersection of East Street while police conducted the investigation. As of 4 p.m. the road was reopened.

There's no word on what caused the crash.
