State Senate President Martin Looney is in need of a kidney transplant.
The 68-year old has begun searching for a donor, reaching out to two Catholic parishes in New Haven.
Saint Rose of Lima church posted to Facebook seeking help and saying Looney's only kidney is failing, and he has not yet found a match.
Looney was elected to the State Senate in 1992, and was majority leader from 2003-2014, before becoming president in 2015.
He says he will have to go on dialysis in a matter of weeks if he does not find a donor.
