The Channel 3 Liberty Bank Surprise Squad shifted gears to help teachers this week.
Last week, it focused on helping parents.
It's all part of its back to school surprise series.
This week, the squad headed to Hamden to help some teachers who needed school supplies.
Many teachers said they have to foot the bill themselves to make their classroom experience as special as possible for students.
"It's expensive, but I love the kids so I'll do it anyway," said Ashley of Meriden. "It makes them feel at home."
"Parents are also," said Randall of Norwalk. "When they walk into the room, you want to make them feel comfortable."
In honor of that hard work both in the classroom and after school hours, the Liberty Bank Surprise Squad wanted to treat some of them.
It took care of purchasing the supplies for several of them.
Many of them had receipts that had ballooned to more than a few hundred dollars.
