A report about a suspicious person in a Plainfield neighborhood led to the arrest of a suspected vehicle burglar.
Police said they first found 37-year-old Martin Olivera of Moosup in the area of Collelo Avenue.
When Olivera saw them, police said he ran.
Officers contacted state police for K9 assistance.
When the dog arrived, police saw Olivera flee the woods near North Main Street towards Brunswick Avenue.
Police said they chased him on Brunswick Avenue right into a group of waiting officers on Cottage Street.
During the investigation that followed, police said they learned that an unlocked vehicle on Collelo had been entered. Items including an electronic device and gift cards valued at $1,000 were stolen.
The items were found in a nearby yard.
Olivera was arrested and charged with fourth-degree larceny.
He was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of Sept. 6 in Danielson.
Plainfield police sought to remind owners to lock their vehicles.
