A woman continues to recover following a Friday evening shooting outside of a church in New Britain.
Police said they responded to 85 Arch St., the Friendship Service Center, shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday.
The initial report referenced shots being fired.
However, officers said they found no evidence of that after speaking with a group of people in the area.
A short time later, a patrol officer still in the area reported hearing shots being fired from the rear of 85 Arch St. Another group of people was spotted running from that area.
Officers said they found the female victim at 77 Arch St. She had been shot in her leg.
Medics said the injury was non-life-threatening. However, the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators said she didn't appear to have been the target.
No one else was hurt.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene, according to police.
