PD: 11 firearms stolen from state police training facility

Police are investigating a burglary where 11 firearms were taken from a state police training facility in Simsbury on Monday morning.

Troopers were at the Connecticut State Police Firearms Training Unit, which is located at 100 Nod Rd., around 7 a.m. When troopers opened a storage case, state police said "11 simunition (non-lethal) firearms – Sig Sauer P220 and 11 simunition magazines" were missing from the case.

During their investigation, police said the suspect or suspects "forced entry" into the facility through the second floor office door.   

State police said a burglary alarm was activated on Friday. After investigating the alarm, state police said "the door it appeared locked and Simsbury Police Department cleared the scene."    

Anyone with any information about the incident are asked to call  860-534-1000 or text TIP711 with the information to 274637. State police said "all calls/texts will remain confidential."
