MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A fire damaged the roof of a manufacturing facility in Milford on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to a report of a fire at Drill Masters-Eldorado Tool Company, which is located at 336 Boston Post Rd. around 7:40 a.m. after an call from an employee.

Milford Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi said the employee said "there was an odor of something burning inside the building."

Upon arrival, firefighters learned that roofing work was conducted on Tuesday.

Firefighters discovered a fire "inside the built up roof of the structure," Fabrizi said. Firefighters were able to open the about 20' x 12'  area "with hand and power tools to expose the smoldering fire, which was quickly extinguished."

There were no reported injuries.

After the fire "was quickly extinguished," employees at Drill Masters-Eldorado Tool Company were able to return to work.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Milford’s Fire Marshal’s division.

Fabrizi said firefighters from the Stratford and West Haven departments provided mutual aid.

Boston Post Road was between Ford Street and Plains Road, according to police. However, they said the road reopened around 9:15 a.m.
