A radiothon kicked off Thursday morning to benefit the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.
Radio stations 102.9 The Whale and The Talk of Connecticut (1360 WDRC, 1420 WMMW, 1240 WWCO and 610 WSNG) said they devoted the day to the annual charity event.
This marked the event's 14th year.
They said the goal was to break their 2015 record of $115,000 by the time the radiothon ends at 6 p.m.
The Whale began the day in the hospital's cafeteria with morning show hosts Chaz and AJ. Their show was broadcast on 102.9, 99.1 WPLR and 95.9 The Fox.
Brad Davis hosted the morning show on The Talk of Connecticut starting at 6 a.m. Ed Oliveria will follow.
“The radiothon is a special day where we are able to partner with an incredible institution to take part in assisting children," said Connoisseur Media Connecticut general manager Kristin Okesson. "Public service is incredibly important to our company, and this is one of the most meaningful initiatives our team works on. Thanks goes out to the loyal listeners of our stations, as well as our sponsors, who help us make a big difference for this great institution."
