PUTNAM, CT (WFSB) -

The victim of a shooting in Putnam that happened earlier this week has died, according to state police.

Troopers said they were called to 58 Pomfret St. just after 9:15 p.m. on Monday for a reported shooting.

The address is part of the Cargill Falls Mill, a historic mill that the town said was converted into lofts.

Putnam police arrived first and found a male victim in a home with a gun shot wound, state police said.

The victim was transported to Day Kimball Hospital, then flown the UMass General Hospital by the Life Star emergency helicopter.

Putnam police turned the investigation over the state police detectives, according to troopers.

State police called the shooting an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.

The said the investigation continues.

No other information was released.
