Some local radio stations raised thousands of dollars for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.

During a radiothon on Thursday, 102.9 The Whale and The Talk of Connecticut was able to raise $145,000. The amount broke previous one day totals, according to officials with the radiothon.  The previous goal was to break their 2015 record of $115,000.

The Talk of Connecticut and 102.9 The Whale devoted Thursday to the annual charity event. Thursday marked the event's 14th year.

The radiothon started with a broadcast by  Chaz & AJ in the CCMC hospital cafeteria at 5:30 a.m. They were joined by Channel 3 Meteorologist Scot Haney on 102.9 the Whale, 991 PLR and 95.9 The Fox as well as Eyewitness News. They turned over the radiothon at 10 a.m. to Allan Lamberti and Michael Picozz.

Legendary personality Brad Davis hosted his morning show from inside the hospital on The Talk of Connecticut. He was following by Ed Oliveria on the same station until noon.

“The Radiothon is a day that really puts things in perspective. I am so proud of the Connoisseur team for breaking the previous one day total, “ Connoisseur Media Connecticut General Manager Kristin Okesson said in a statement on Friday.

“To raise 145,000 dollars for the only freestanding children’s hospital in Connecticut is truly an honor, and the generosity of our listeners continues to impress and delight me," Okesson went on to say.
