BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police have identified the man, whose body was found in a wooded area in Branford on Wednesday morning.

Police said the body was found lying on the side of the dirt road near the intersection Ark and Pine Orchard roads around 7:30 a.m.

The area where the body was located is on the Tabor Property, which stores road materials for the town and is owned by town of Branford.

"It's kind of weird because I was actually there Monday and I walked down that way too, walked down that road, it's kind of disturbing, unsettling, sad too," said Dan Crowley.

The man was identified as 28-year-old Joseph Miller, of Branford.

Miller's death "appears to be suspicious in nature," Branford Police Detective Lieutenant John Finkle said.

“Our investigators will work closely with the CSP and the other agencies involved to determine all of the facts and circumstances surrounding this untimely death and ultimately its cause," Finkle said.

Connecticut State Police, Central District Major Crime, New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the Branford Police at 203-481-4241 or the Branford Crime Tip Line at 203-315-3909.
