BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

A Connecticut baseball team wants to bring Tim Tebow to the Nutmeg state.

Former NFL quarterback Tebow was "formally offered" a contract from minor league baseball team, the Bridgeport Bluefish, on Wednesday.

“The Bluefish welcome Tim with open arms. The Atlantic League is all about giving players opportunity, and we think Bridgeport would be a great place for him to begin his professional baseball career," Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole said on the team's website.

On Tuesday, Tebow held a workout for 40 scouts from 28 Major League clubs in hopes of making as an outfielder. His performance was met with mixed reviews even though he "hit five home runs in batting practice and recorded an 'above average' time in the 60-yard dash." .

However, the former Denver Broncos and New York Jets quarterback would be called up to the Bridgeport Bluefish "effective immediately upon his acceptance and contract signing," the club said.
