Waterbury woman arrested for illegally collecting workers compensation

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A Waterbury nursing assistant was charged with illegally collecting workers compensation benefits.

Rosaura Rodriguez, 51, of Waterbury was arrested after it was that found that she collected benefits while working a second job.

Officials said Rodriguez had claimed she was unable to work the second job due to an injury she suffered in January 2015 while working as a nursing assistant at Saint Mary's Hospital.

The benefits were granted to Rodriguez to make up for income lost by being unable to work a second job.

She was arrested following a lengthy investigation by the Workers' Compensation Fraud Control Unit.

Rodriguez was charged with one count of fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits.

She was released on a promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on September 13.
