BROOKFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

A police officer removed a dog out of a hot motor vehicle in Brookfield on Saturday.

The Brookfield officer was alerted by a Shoprite employee that a dog was locked in a car in the parking lot on Federal Road.

Even though it was 80 degrees outside, police said inside the vehicle it was 114 degrees with the windows cracked.

Police advised people to think about their pets and leave them home.

It is unclear if the owner is facing any charges.
