OLD SAYBROOK, CT (WFSB) -

Ocean Beach Park in New London was closed on Monday, due to the currents and riptides from post-Tropical Storm Hermine.

Residents in Old Saybrook were bracing for what could be powerful winds stemming from Hermine. As the post tropical storm trudges ahead, police in Old Saybrook prepared in the emergency management center.

When Superstorm Sandy hit, in 2012, Old Saybrook took a beating. Homes were ruined, complete neighborhoods ruined. While post Tropical Storm Hermine won't have that type of impact, police urged people to be prepared and have an emergency kit should you lose electricity, or if flooding occurs.

Police have prepped an emergency shelter just in case.

Hermine may bring wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour to the shoreline.
