Troopers called to more than 250 crashes this Labor Day weekend

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

State police troopers were called to more than 250 crashes this holiday weekend. 

While enforcing the Connecticut highways and roads this Labor Day weekend, troopers responded to 283 crashes including 43 with reports of injuries. 

From 12:01 a.m. on Friday until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, troopers made 51 DUI arrests, gave out 1,699 speeding tickets and 165 seat belt violations. There were 3,552 other hazardous moving violations including unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone, Texting, etc. 

Last year, troopers responded to 336 crashes including 58 with reports of injuries. There were three deadly crashes during the 2015 Labor Day weekend. 

There were also 45 DWI arrests, gave out 1,930 speeding tickets and 98 seat belt violations. There were 4,132 other hazardous moving violations including unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone, Texting, etc.
