NORWALK, CT (WFSB) -

Firefighters in Norwalk said they responded to a garage late Tuesday night.

They said the 1,000 square foot, three-car garage on Point Road was fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived shortly after 10:35 p.m.

Two cars parked in front of the garage were completely destroyed. A third vehicle and a golf cart on the inside were also destroyed.

Along with the vehicles, some furnishings, carpets and a couple of storage lofts were also inside the building.

Firefighters called the fire "stubborn." It took them half an hour to extinguish it due to the amount of things that were stored in the garage.

The interior lofts had partially collapsed.

Firefighters had to sift through debris to seek out hot spots.

The home on the property, which sits about 30 feet from the garage, was not damaged.

The two people and one child in the home were not hurt.

Twenty-three firefighters responded to the scene. They left around 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
