Man, woman robbed at motel on Berlin Turnpike in Newington

NEWINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Newington are looking for a suspect who robbed a motel on the Berlin Turnpike.

They said it happened around 3 a.m. on Thursday at the Siesta Motel.

Police said a man and woman were approached by a man as they entered their room.

The man tried to force his way in, but one of the victims resisted.

The suspect showed a handgun, which was pulled from his waistband, according to police. The suspect then demanded that the victim give him the duffel bag he was carrying.

The victim gave the suspect the bag. The suspect then fled on foot.

Police said the victim described the suspect as a man in his 20s who was between 6' and 6'2" tall. He had a slender build with medium-length braided hair. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with gray sweatpants.

Police used a K9 unit to track the suspect, but no one was found.
