Vernon police search for burglary suspects

Police searching for suspects involved in a burglary that was interrupted at an apartment in Vernon on Thursday afternoon.

The burglary took place at Sherwood Arms Apartments on Route 83 around noon. 

When police responded, they saw two suspects coming from a ground floor condo unit, and one was carrying a suitcase and the second was carrying a screwdriver and wearing something over his face. Both suspects were wearing gloves.

When police tried to approach the two men, they ran off. Police tried to chase them but lost sight of them in the area of Walgreens Pharmacy on Talcottville Road.

Manchester Police Department K9 assisted in the search. 

Out of precaution, police notified school officials to have Skinner Road Elementary School placed in a lock down.

The search is in the Skinner Road neighborhood.

Residents that see any suspicious activity are asked to call the Vernon Police Department at 860-872-9126. 

The suspects were described as two men who were both between ages of 25 and 35 years old. One was wearing grey T-shirt and jeans, while the other black T-shirt and jeans.
