The home opener for the Hartford Wolf Pack is just one month away, and fans are gearing up.
On Tuesday, the Wolf Pack asked fans to participate in the ice-painting process during the installation of the XL Center’s ice surface.
This is the fourth season the team has done this.
"Its family, you know? That’s the best way to explain what it is, you become family with the people that are here,” said Josh Warnock of Enfield.
The AHL team home opener is coming up on Friday, Oct. 14.
"It makes you part of the team, and when you're sitting up there, you look down and you're like, ‘hey, I painted that part of the ice’,” said Mariah Warnock, of Enfield.
"A lot of people will put their initials on the ice before they paint over it or they'll paint messages,” said Adam Goldberg of the Hartford Wolf Pack.
This is the fourth time they've rolled-out the "chilly" welcome mat for painters, who fill in the lines and make their mark before the ice, that's only about three-quarters of an inch thick, is sealed for the season.
"First, they put a very thin layer of water, then they paint white on top of that, then they put the lines and the logos and then on top of that, they start to build up slowly, layer by layer,” Goldberg said.
Single-game tickets for the Wolf Pack went on sale on Tuesday at noon. For more information, click here.
