EAST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Police are searching for a person who fled from the scene of a deadly crash in East Haven on Wednesday.

The crash closed an off-ramp on I-95 south in East Haven. It happened around noon, in the area of Home Depot and Frontage Road.

One person was killed in the crash, and another was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said a third occupant, described as being in his late teens, early 20s, fled from the crash. He was wearing black shorts with a blue stripe and blue sneakers. He was last seen in a wooded area between Dunkin Donuts and 91 Frontage Rd. and CarMax.

Town Councilman Ken McKay said this section of Frontage Road near Exit 51 off I-95 south is dangerous.

“The state (has to) do something about slowing people down coming off of that exit. This is the second fatality in six months at the same location,” McKay said.

Friends of the victim said the person who died is a woman in her 30s and is a mother of three.

Anyone with information should contact police at 203-468-3820.
